Dubai PPC Case Study Β· Home ImprovementSame 30,000 AED budget. 3.3x return.

A premium blinds and curtains brand in Dubai was spending 30,000 AED a month on ads it couldn't measure. I didn't ask for more budget. I fixed what was underneath it, and the account started returning 100,000 AED extra every month.

The product was excellent: motorised blinds, made-to-measure curtains and premium installation for villas and apartments across Dubai. The marketing looked busy too. Ads were running on Google, Meta and TikTok every day. But when the owner asked a simple question, "what am I actually getting for my 30,000 dirhams?", nobody could answer it.

Every WhatsApp tap looked like a sale

The first thing I opened was the tracking, and that's where the story started. Every tap on the WhatsApp button was being counted as a conversion. Someone opening the chat by accident counted the same as a customer ready to book a measurement visit. The reported numbers were up to ten times higher than real enquiries.

With numbers like that, the ad platforms were learning the wrong lesson. They were finding more people who tap buttons, not more people who buy blinds.

Underneath, three more problems were quietly draining the budget:

  • 70% of the campaigns were bidding against each other. Motorised blinds, roller blinds and curtains sat in overlapping campaigns, so the brand was paying to compete with itself.
  • Nobody could tell a raw lead from a qualified one. There was no split between enquiries, marketing-qualified leads and sales-qualified leads.
  • There was no view of what visitors did on the site. Nobody knew where people dropped off or why.
Fix the foundation first. Then scale.

The plan

Clean the data before spending another dirham

I rebuilt the tracking so a button tap and a genuine lead were recorded separately. For the first time, the business had a conversion count it could trust, and the algorithms had the right target to learn from.

Give every product its own lane

Someone searching for motorised blinds isn't the same buyer as someone after simple roller blinds. I split the campaigns into product silos, each with its own targeting, its own ads and its own landing page, so the message matched exactly what the person searched for.

Make the brand the answer AI tools give

More buyers now ask ChatGPT and other AI assistants where to buy premium blinds in Dubai. I restructured the site's technical setup and content so AI search tools recognise the brand as a credible recommendation, not just Google.

Watch real behaviour, then fix the leaks

Behaviour reports showed something surprising: the home page converted better than the category and product pages, the very pages buyers were landing on. So I moved the calls to action, tidied category navigation to surface best-sellers, added trust signals like certifications, reviews and guarantees, and cleaned up the visual hierarchy.

The results, on the same budget

Self-competition fell from 70% to 15%. That alone meant the money that used to be wasted bidding against itself was now reaching new buyers. Returning visitors converted at 20% instead of 5%, and the conversion rate for new customers climbed to 35%, because there was far less doubt left in the buying journey.

Monthly leads rose from 300 to more than 500. More importantly, they were the right leads: 45% became marketing-qualified, and 60% of those became sales-qualified. The average order grew from 4,000 to 6,000 AED, because campaigns built around high-intent buyers attract people who are ready to spend more.

The result was 100,000 AED in extra revenue every month, month after month, with the budget unchanged at 30,000 AED.

The lesson

Most ad accounts don't underperform because the budget is too small. They underperform because the foundation is broken. Cannibalised campaigns and fake conversions can make 30,000 AED perform like 10,000.

FAQ

Your questions, answered

What is a good ROAS for Google Ads?

A good ROAS is one that is profitable for your margins. A common rule of thumb is around 3x to 4x for many businesses, but a high-margin product can profit at less and a low-margin one needs more. Work out your break-even ROAS first: one divided by your profit margin. This Dubai brand reached 3.3x on the same budget.

How do you improve ROAS without increasing ad spend?

Stop waste before adding budget. Fix tracking so platforms optimise for real leads, remove overlap between campaigns, split products into focused funnels and improve landing page conversion. Here, with spend fixed at 30,000 AED a month, those changes lifted ROAS to 3.3x and added around 100,000 AED in monthly revenue.

What is keyword cannibalisation in Google Ads?

Cannibalisation happens when your own campaigns or ad groups compete for the same searches, so you bid against yourself and blur the data. This account had about 70% internal cannibalisation. Restructuring into clear product silos brought it down to 15%, which made each campaign's results meaningful again.

Why should WhatsApp clicks not count as conversions?

Because a click is not a lead. Many people tap the WhatsApp button and never send a message, or send one and never become customers. Counting taps teaches Google and Meta to find more tappers, not buyers. Here, separating taps from genuine leads was the first fix, before any campaign changes.

What is a silo campaign structure?

A silo structure separates products or services into their own funnels, each with its own targeting, ads, creative and landing page. For this brand, motorised blinds and simple blinds were split because buyers, prices and questions differ. Silos stop products competing with each other and make budget decisions clearer.

How do you market a home improvement business in Dubai?

Combine Google Search for people actively looking, Meta and TikTok for visual inspiration, and strong landing pages with clear trust signals. Track real leads through to site visits and sales. Dubai buyers compare several suppliers, so quick follow-up matters. See home improvement marketing and Dubai.

What is the difference between a raw lead, MQL and SQL?

A raw lead is any enquiry. A marketing-qualified lead (MQL) matches your target customer and shows real interest. A sales-qualified lead (SQL) has been checked by sales as ready to buy, for example booking a measurement visit. Tracking these stages showed which campaigns produced buyers, not just form fills, and improved the share of leads that progressed.

How do you increase average order value for a home improvement brand?

Promote higher-value products to the right audience, show premium options on landing pages and train sales to present complete solutions. Separating motorised blinds into their own funnel helped reach buyers ready for premium products. Average order value rose from 4,000 to 6,000 AED while spend stayed the same.

What is CRO and how does it improve ad performance?

Conversion rate optimisation (CRO) improves the share of visitors who enquire or buy. Better conversion makes every ad dirham work harder. Here, behaviour reports showed the home page converted better than category and product pages, so we repositioned calls to action, improved navigation and added trust signals. See CRO and automation.

How many leads should a 30,000 AED monthly budget produce?

It depends on your product, competition, offer and website, so there is no standard number. In this case, leads rose from about 300 to 500+ a month on the same 30,000 AED once tracking, structure and conversion were fixed. The bigger win was quality: more of those leads became sales opportunities.

Why do returning visitors convert better?

Returning visitors already know your brand and have often compared options, so they are closer to buying. Remarketing, consistent messaging and a smooth site help bring them back and convert them. For this brand, returning visitor conversion rose from about 5% to 20% after site and tracking improvements.

Do Google Ads work better than Meta ads for blinds and curtains?

They do different jobs. Google Search catches people already looking for blinds, often with higher purchase intent. Meta and TikTok build interest through visuals and remarketing. This brand used Google, Meta and TikTok, and all three improved once tracking separated real leads and each channel was judged on quality, not clicks.

What is AI search optimisation (AIO)?

AI search optimisation means structuring your website so AI-powered search tools and Google's AI answers can understand and cite your products and expertise. It covers clear technical structure, well-organised content and accurate business information. This brand's site was rebuilt with that architecture alongside paid campaign fixes. See SEO services.

Why is tracking fixed before changing campaigns?

Because changing campaigns based on wrong data just moves the problem around. If conversions are inflated or mislabelled, you cannot tell which campaigns work. Fixing tracking first gives a true baseline, and the ad platforms start learning from real leads. That sequence was central to this case.
